An Australian delegation led by Peter Steinberg, Director of Sydney Institute of Marine Science(SIMS), and Warrick Lawson, head of the School of Physical, Environmental and Mathematical Sciences at University of New South Wales (UNSW), visited the Laoshan campus of Ocean University of China (OUC) on March 3rd to exchange ideas and strengthen cooperation.
In his speech, OUC Vice President Li Huajun extended his warm welcome to the visiting guests. After a brief introduction to OUC, Prof. Li said “the university will further facilitate its student exchange and joint research cooperation with SIMS and UNSW”. He also pointed out that OUC would take the “World Port Project” proposed by the Australian delegation into serious consideration.
Prof. Peter Steinberg said that “the establishment of strategic partnership with OUC, the environmental protection organizations in Qingdao, and the Qingdao City Construction Investment Group demonstrates that we fully recognize and attach great importance to OUC’s achievements in education and scientific research.”
Warrick Lawson echoed with Prof. Li and said he looked forward to conduct more exchanges to deepen mutual understanding, so as to advance the cooperation among research institutions between China and Australia.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from the International Office, College of Physical and Environmental Oceanography, College of Law and Political Science, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and College of Geo-sciences.
