Research Interests:
1. Isolation and structure elucidation of marine bioactive natural compounds from soft corals and gorgonian corals as well as their symbiotic microorganisms collected from the South China Sea.
2. Evaluation of the relationships based on secondary metabolites between marine invertebrates and their symbiotic microorganisms in the areas of marine chemical ecology, biosynthesis, and chemical taxonomy.
3. Assessment the possible relationships between the pharmacological effects (such as cytotoxic, antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial activities) and the chemoecological functions (such as toxicity, allelopathy, ichthyotoxic, antifeeding and antifouling activities).
Current Research Support:
1. Marine Medicinal Bioresources. The National Natural Science Foundation of Chinafor Excellent Young Scholars (No.41322037, 2014.01–2016.12). (Shao CL, PI)
