Dr. Tao Jiang, female, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, winner of outstanding youths awards of Chinese Ministry of Education, editorial board member of journal of Fine Chemicals, reviewer of E. J. Med. Chem., Bioorg. Med. Chem., Tetrahedron, etc.
Dr. Jiang was graduated in 1993 for her doctoral degree from Changchun Institute of applied Chemistry, Chinese Academic of Sciences. After that she studied in Hong Kong Baptist University for her post-doctoral training from Nov. 1993 to Nov. 1995, then worked with the department of Chemistry and Biological Sciences, University of Essex in UK as visiting scientist for one year. She joined the Marine Drug and Food Institute of Ocean University of China in 1997 and became a professor in medicinal chemistry in Dec. 1997, a doctoral supervisor in 2001. During Nov. to Dec., 2004, she worked in Lady Davis Institute, Jewis General Hospital in Canada for cooperative research.
Dr. Jiang has designed and synthesized a series of nucleic acid intercalating agents as well as shear agents, accomplished syntheses, structure optimization and SAR studies of various marine natural heterocyclic alkaloids. She has also performed drug design, syntheses and bioactivity research based on saccharous structure. A variety of compounds are undertaking candidate drugs or preclinical research. She has lead and took 23 research projects, assigned 4 projects. Now she is conducting 1 international cooperative project of Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, 2 projects of Natural Science Foundation of China and several other projects. 3.56 million RMB as research funds has been forthcoming up to now. She has published over 70 papers on Chem. Comm., J. Med. Chem., E. J. Med. Chem., Bioorg. Med. Chem. and other journals, applied 12 national patents for invention, among which 4 have been authorized.

15 doctors and 22 masters have graduated from our lab, and there are currently 6 doctor candidates and 10 master candidates in our lab. Graduates from our lab are mainly engaged in drug research and teaching, among which three have been promoted to the senior management layers of their companies.

1. Syntheses, structural optimization and SAR studies of marine natural products such as marine heterocylic alkaloids;
2. Chemical modification including glycosylation and phosphate esterification of bioactive molecules, and drug design and syntheses based on saccharous structure.
