CESE has afirst-level discipline authorized to confer ESE doctoral degree and an ESEpostdoctoral workstation. Its environmental science is a national keydiscipline, and its environmental engineering is one of the provincial keydisciplines. In 2012, its first-level discipline of ESE ranked seven in thenational discipline assessment. The two laboratories, the MOE Key Laboratory ofMarine Environment and the Ecology and National ESE Experimental TeachingDemonstration Center, are its most important platforms of scientific research& education.
