ABSTRACT: This report introduces the development status and some problems of the Mathematical Modeling Competition, especially some matters needing attention in participating in the Mathematical Modeling Competition. Finally, two simple modeling examples are introduced.

The speaker: Xie Jinxing, Professor, Department of Mathematical Science, Tsinghua University, Executive Member of the International Society of Mathematical Modeling Teaching and Application, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of the National Competition on Mathematical Modeling for College Students, and Deputy Editor of the Journal of Mathematical Modeling and Application. The main research fields are mathematical modeling, operations research and management science.
