NCMIS&OUC established Joint Laboratory of Marine Mathematics and Technology

On the morning of November 17, 2017, the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences, the National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences and the Ocean University of China was held in the First Conference Room of Laoshan Campus Library.

According to the agreement, the purpose of the establishment of the Joint Laboratory of Marine Mathematics and Technology by National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Science(NCMIS),CASand Ocean University of China is to promote the frontier theoretical and applied research and personnel training in the fields of mathematics and marine science and technology.

Through joint research and cooperation projects, we can make joint innovation to make mathematical science and technology better applied to marine science and engineering, and realize its innovative development driven by marine demand. Joint laboratory carries out personnel training in relevant research fields, including offering front-line lectures and scientific research guidance for undergraduates, joint training of postgraduates, exchange visits between postdoctoral and young scholars, etc.

This initiative will also provide useful support for the National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences to achieve the goal of building a high-level research platform for interdisciplinary cooperation between mathematics and other disciplines at the national level, and contribute to the cultivation and cultivation of interdisciplinary talents of mathematics and other disciplines that meet the needs of scientific development and the country.

The development of marine science and technology is inseparable from mathematics and cross-science.The Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is a comprehensive national academic research institution, covering the main research directions of mathematics and systems science.

Therefore, the cooperation between the National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences and the Ocean University of China in the construction of a joint laboratory of marine mathematics and technology can give full play to the advantages of both sides and make new contributions to the construction of a powerful marine country.
