Operations research and control theory is a very important sub-discipline of mathematical sciences. There are two interdependent aspects for this subject. One is the research on basic mathematical theories and methods in the related areas. The second aspect focuses on the modeling, controlling, optimization and decision-making in practical systems, such as, economic management, machinofacture, electronics, information, transportation, military, ecosystem and engineering, etc.

Our master program for operations research and control theory was set up in 2003. At present, the main research fields of the group are: graph theory and combinatorial optimization, control theory and its applications, theory of combinatorics and its applications, and etc. Through years of development, the group has achieved important academic successes in the above research fields; and gained 9 sponsorships from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 6 sponsorships from the Natural Science Foundation (Key Foundation) of Shandong Province or Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education Currently, there are several high level academic teams in the above fields, each consisting of professors, vice- professors and young researchers with doctoral degree. The complete professional documents and research journals will be very helpful for students’ development.
