Marine Mapping and Geographic Information System

This discipline goal is to train students with a solid Mathematic, Physics, Computer and Foreign Language, and a good quality of scientific thinking and innovation, to master basic theories, basic methods and basic skills of Spatial Information Acquisition and Processing, Modern Geodesy and Geodynamics. The graduates are required especially to be talents in deep-sea areas of the National Marine high-tech science and engineering mapping.

The main courses are Introduction to Submarine Science, Geophysics, Geodesy, Introduction to Marine Mapping, Cartography, Digital Mapping Principles and Methods, Marine Geographic Information Systems Theory, Error Theory, Measurement and Adjustment, Marine Spatial Positioning, Marine Gravity and Magnetic Measurement, Submarine Exploration Technology, Submarine Mapping, Marine Remote Sensing Technology, Marine Cadastral Survey and Demarcation, Marine Engineering Measurements.

The graduates can engage in the relevant departments and unit on marine research, land surveying, construction, energy and resource exploration and environmental protection. They can engage in research, teaching, planning, mapping, design and management work.
