The displine has two directions including Earth Information Science and Technology and Ocean Mapping and Geographic Information Systems.
Earth Information Science and Technology requires the studends to develop a solid Mathematics, Physics, Computer and Foreign Language with good scientific thinking and innovative qualities, to master the basic theory and basic skills on Earth Information Science and Technology, to engage in the fields of Marine Geo-information Data Processing Technology, Software Engineering Design and Development, Information Technology, Visualization. They will be highly qualified specialists in the fields.
Main courses include Digital Signal Analysis, Computational Methods, Computer Programming Language, Computer Networks, Earth Science, Earth Information Processing Technology, Analysis and Design of Visualization Systems, Image Processing Technology, Application of Software Platform, Engineering Development of Information Software Systems.
The graduates can work in the State Oceanic Administration, the Ministry of Land, Petroleum, Environmental Engineering and Monitoring, institutions, universities and other departments working on development, management, and other aspects of teaching and research, but also engage in the IT-related research and development. The students can pursue their master degree and doctorate.
