Institute of Marine Geochemistry

Institute of Marine Geochemistry, founded in 1999 and established by Professor Shikui Zhai, aimed at targeting the current international scientific issues on Marine Geochemistry such as geochemistry of environment, resources, ecology, global change and other areas, using REE, trace elements and isotopic geochemistry. The goal is to establish one marine geochemistry center in the domestic leading position, being characterized by Submarine Petro-geochemistry, Marine Sedimentary Geochemistry, and Submarine Modern Hydrothermal Activities. The institute is mainly responsible for a number of research projects of national special projects, "863" and "973" projects.
