On December 4, 2021, the editorial office of Marine Life Science & Technology (MLST) received an official email from Springer Nature, officially announcing its inclusion in the “Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE)”, a database of Clarivate. Academician Prof. Song Weibo of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is serving as chief editor of this journal.

MLST is an English academic journal co-sponsored by OUC and the Pilot National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (Qingdao). Members of the editorial board come from 15 countries and regions, with 60% from outside China. Starting in November 2019, the journal has published three volumes and nine issues, with a total of 98 papers.

SCIE will include all the articles published in MLST since its first issue. The first impact factor of MLST will be officially released in June 2022, with a predicted factor of 4.1. It is expected to be placed in the Q1 (Marine and Freshwater Biology) of SCIE. Currently, MLST has been included in many international databases such as SCIE and Scopus.

MLST solicits contributions in five fields, namely Basic Biology, Fisheries Science, Marine Drugs and Bioproducts, Food Science & Biological Technology, and Biological Oceanography. Since its inception, the journal has been widely acknowledged in the academic and publishing community. In just two years, MLST has been included in SCIE and ranked as a first-class academic journal in the world, demonstrating its strong momentum.
